Hello members…
I hope this finds all of you well.
The board met via Zoom last week and discussed the remainder of this calendar year and the events that we usually participate in and the current status of those events.
The Maryland State Fair and The Great Frederick fair are having youth events, however, these events are not sanctioned by 4-H.
I spoke with the president of the Farm Museum and the events held at Rose Hill and the Farm Museum are not looking likely.
The In-the-Streets Festival has not made any announcement. Coordination of vet certificates and CDC guidelines will make this event challenging at best. The expense of this event poses another challenge given we have not been able to conduct our annual fund raiser which was scheduled for April.
It is also highly unlikely that the Czech Embassy will move forward with their Christmas Market as it is nearly impossible to keep children and animals properly socially distanced.
The board voted to suspend participation at events for the remainder of the calendar year, with the caveat that we could reassess if something dramatically changed with the pandemic.
In addition, I contacted Dutch’s Daughter regarding their current restrictions for hosting our annual dinner meeting. They are currently only operating with 50% capacity and one family per table. They are not able to have any buffet style service, all meals would need to be ordered in advance from the menu.
Our by-laws require an annual general membership meeting and with the above restrictions and the expenses incurred to hold the dinner under those conditions, the board voted to conduct this annual meeting via Zoom. The meeting will be held on November 6th at 6:30 pm just as the dinner would have been. Details and log in information will be forwarded in a separate email. Please be on the lookout for that email as we would love to see your faces and hear your opinions on the year ahead.
Please note, this is NOT an election year.
I welcome any input you have as we begin the planning of this virtual meeting.
If you are unsure of how a Zoom meeting works, please reach out to me and I can walk you through the process. Trust me, if I can figure it out, so can all of you.
Stay safe and stay cool. Please let me or any other board member know if you have any needs or concerns. As I always say, we work for you.
