A unique farm with registered Blue-faced Leicester sheep. We have a small flock - 8-12 sheep only. Lambs arrive from late March to end of April and are for sale and ready to go by June. The ewes and ram are chosen for: fleece luster; fiber strength; consistency of fiber throughout the animal; conformation (I tend to like the sheep to be substantial throughout the back and hind end as well as length of the back). Our sheep have great length without the "swayback".
The sheep share their pasture with Traveler, a Tennessee Walking Horse whose job is to herd and protect the sheep. All our sheep are covered year-round to protect their fleeces. Most of our fleeces are shown and sold either privately, or at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. We have won 1st place in the Bluefaced Leicester division of the MSWF from 2013 to 2018, in 2017 we were Reserve Grand Champion Fleece! If you are interested in clean, lustrous wool with amazing crimp that will create a wonderful draping garment, then contact us for fleeces. We also have breeding stock lambs for sale as well as young market rams for slaughter. Check us out on Facebook (under Margie Smith) or our website: marlindalefarm.net for updated information.

Picnic Woods Farm is located in Maryland's picturesque Middletown Valley. The farm has a large, well-maintained 120 ft. bank barn.
We raise Romney ewes, miniature donkeys, and black angus cattle.
Griff amuses himself (and hopefully others), by using old farm iron to weld into artwork. Mary is a watercolor artist.
Our Romney wool is made into beautiful woolen blankets. The blankets are woven at the MacAusland's Woolen Mill, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
For more information about the MacAusland's Woolen Mill -- click on the "Links" tab -- and scroll down to Woolen Mills.
We will be at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival. Blanket information is on our website -- showing our various sizes and patterns.

At Tweedside Farm Gotlands, we chose the Swedish breed of Gotland sheep due to their lustrous long-wool fleece, coupled with their sweet & affectionate nature, and friendly sized frame.
Knitters & Hand-Spinners: We sell our own line of lustrous Gotland yarn in shades of silver, charcoal & black, and for the hand spinners…we produce quality fleeces and roving.
Breeding stock: we breed for the classic Swedish silver-grey, and our lambs range between 93% to 100% Gotland in the upbreeding program. All have been genetically tested for scrapie susceptibility and are either QR or RR (not QQ); the R has shown to be scrapie resistant.
We're on Facebook, IG as @LuxeFibers, AmericanGotlandSheep.org, GSBANA.org, & FrederickSheepBreeders.com websites.
